Cathy is a volunteer for Ballina Coastcare which protects dunes and vegetation from the Richmond River to Sharpes Beach. This Hortpod will be a special place for Cathy to develop native coastal forest seedlings; Banksia, Tuckeroo, Casuarina, Blueberry ash, Pandanus, native Hibiscus, the wonderful Lilly Pilly, Callitris (a coastal Cypress), Melaleuca Paperbarks and maybe even some native coastal orchids. “Ballina Coastcare receives some plants from the Ballina Shire Council for Tree Planting Days, but it will be fantastic to have a space to grow the seedlings, so we can fill in areas of low growth or damage throughout the planting season,” Cathy said.
